Quiet and peaceful
The room shown can easily be transformed and personalised. I was pleased with the variety of outdoor and indoor relaxation areas and the facilities overall. The staff seemed compassionate and the residents well-cared for.
Everything that an aged home should be. They care well for the occupants and still give them supervised freedom of movement.
A huge plus is that this is one of the few nursing homes that doesn't reek of urine. Sadly though, there was only one person on duty for the entire time I visited with a loved one. That person was really gracious and caring - there were no worries there at all - but one person is not enough to do all the caring required. That said, the area visited, from the parking lot through (a dark and unoccupied) reception area to the rooms was clean and tidy. If the staff to client ratio was good, I would not mind if another loved one was to stay at St Catherine's.
Staff walk around you while you wait patiently to ask for assistance in locating a specific area. Cannot even communicate that they will be with you shortly. Pathetic staff and odd smelling indoors. Avoid.
