My friend who is in respite care there is very happy with the friendly and professional care he is receiving.
Since Mecwacare took over Shoreham House the level of care has deteriorated and the whole feel of the once professional, homely, friendlly place is now a very different place. The high turnover of staff and the high turnover of managers is a reflection of the way Mecwacare run things . Staff numbers are cut to the bone especially on weekends. , Staff have little quality time to spend with residents Care suffers, hygiene suffers. The cleaning of rooms is a lick and a promise, I think once a week and the rooms NEVER get a full , thorough clean. The hairdresser left due to health issues some months ago. The residents are still waiting for a replacement. On a regular basis residents use to have outings around the area. It was a highlight. Not anymore, the mini bus has gone to another Mecwacare facility. Plus, staffing numbers would not be adequate to assist with this. The lovely garden use to be enjoyed by residents, family and staff. No longer, the staff just don't have the time to take residents out there. Annie's Court is not a place where you would want your loved one to spend the last part of their life. The Managers that have worked here over the last year have tried to improve and tackle the issues at Annie's. It seems their hands are tied with the Mecwacare powers that be. It's all about cost cutting.. On a positive note, Mecwacare quickly put plans and precautions in place to deal with the pandemic. They did a good job to keep residents safe and vaccinations were rolled out quickly.
Terrible staff and terrible welfare for clients/patient's. Disgusted at their attitudes and wellbeing of clients/ patients and their standards. Should not be able to operate in the well being of our fragile and needing community
**edit** it's been over a week and I am still waiting on the mecwacare team to "contact me" in regards to this issue... Completely unprofessional. I have never had a more demeaning and disrespectful interview in my life. Interview was booked for 1:30.. I am in the video conference for 15 minutes waiting for them until I hung up to call the facility. They tell me they are too busy right now but will email a suitable time later. I get an email at 2:57 for a 3pm interview.. I struggle but am able to pull it off. The interview itself was condescending and they were not apologetic for being late. Just felt like I was being made a joke out of the entire time and couldn't understand why they would bother calling me if they didn't want to interview me. Waste of my time and efforts.
