My Dad, David Birt, has been living at Gosling Creek Aged Care for nearly 5 years now. He chose to enter aged care and chose Gosling Creek over all the other aged care establishments in Orange. That choice was made for the more rural setting, for the gracious interior and lovely private rooms. My Dad constantly says how much he loves where he's living and sometimes wishes he'd made the move sooner. From my perspective I'm extremely happy that my Dad is happy. All the staff are friendly, wonderful people and give the best of care to the residents - Dad often says how they spoil him. I have seen many of the staff go above and beyond what is required and I am deeply grateful to each of them for what they do.
As a resident at a younger one, aged 52 then. I can say that how they are when family is about Is very different from the reality. LOOKS GREAT. If I had not got out under the NDIS I would have ended it. Neglect, failure to act in serious matters. Some issues had been reported by mandatory reporters, to the aged care complaints but I was too scared of the manager who was there at the time to do anything formal. One of those mandatory reports was by a dept of health visitor who noted first hand I was being intimidated by the then manager. She was there investigating company ACFI funding fraud matter. ie making up false care plans to get large amounts of funding. Dressings left for days and staff stating they'd changed it...Or staff lying and saying j had refused, even though I has asked. . I could go on for ever. I'm just pleased to see a family Is now come forward and reported neglect and there will now be an enquiry. Much of the blame lies with the company that own the facility, Allity aged care. Who are also under the magnifier for potential failure of the duty of care in a home in Revesby. That resulted in 3 covid deaths last week. With strict aged care protocols, no visitors for months, people shouldn't be still dying of covid in October 2021??. clearly it suggests protocols were also not followed. That's neglect too. I do lay the blame with the company though. One of the wealthiest providers and yet severe staff cuts to increase profits. That results in neglect. Note.. they also own Calare aged care home in orange. I was there for 5 years before moving to their gosling creek. Same owners. Same issues. .
Gosling Creek Aged Care is a lovely, large flowing and spacious home for the elderly of our community. The staff are approachable, kind, nurturing, attentive, supportive of families (especially during Covid times) and professional in all cares. With 2 grandparents who live there and one recently passed, the love and care of my step-grandfather (96) during such a time of grief has been compassionate and incredibly thoughtful. The past 5 months Gosling has very much become part of our lives and will continue to be so, for quite possibly years to come.
I have just settled my mother into Gosling Creek Aged Care. Mum was a bit unsure about it all but the staff have been so kind and welcoming. Mum settled in very quickly. Tracy Inwood has been fantastic and kept us informed about protocols at all times. They’re outstanding.
I would like to thank all the staff at Gosling Creek Aged Care in Orange for their professional and caring help of our sister Mary Barber. Our special appreciation goes to Tracy Inwood who goes above and beyond to help both the family, and Mary to settle in to care. She is worth her weight in gold!!. Best wishes and great appreciation from the Barber family.
