Mum has lived here in the lodge for over 2 years. The staff are wonderful, caring and attentive. The building is spotlessly clean, food is good quality and activities run daily. Mum is very happy here

If I could do less than 1 Star I would. My Mum was there 2 years ago and the facility was amazing. I was meant to place Dad in for 2 weeks Respite with the opportunity for permanent but after 6 days I pulled him out and took him home. The nurse staff are the worst I have ever encountered. From the head of nursing to the AIN’s. From the moment I checked Dad in, the nurses never communicated to the next shift, or the next and everyday I went in, I had to communicate everything again and again. The staff were different everyday and no one knew anything. The nursing staff ran out of Dad’s pain medication and I wouldn’t have known if I hadn’t checked on the dosage and frequency. It takes days to obtain this medication, which means he will not have any for days now! It is the only medication he is on and they can not even manage that. Dad is on pain medication for his tumour and everytime I went in to see him, he was in extreme pain. I had been managing the medication and his pain for well over 1 month but the nursing home couldn’t even manage this basic need. One of the AIN’s even had the audacity to tell me, “no one can manage his pain!”. After 6 days, Dad had virtually no energy and his mental cognitive function had deteriorated to a point I had never seen before. I had communicated on the first day, that Dad need the Polident place on his dentures before every meal because if he washed his teeth out, his dentures would fall out, due to his constant weight loss. This was never communicated and his dentures were constantly falling out and he then wasn’t able to eat. Then they would give him bread rolls and salad to try and eat. There were so many other Incidents but I will limited to just these. The only staff that care and do an amazing job and go above and beyond is the activities staff members. If the activities staff members were to replace the nursing and AIN’s, Estia Health would be worth having your love one’s stay. However this is not the case, so unless you don’t care what happens to the people you care for, by all means place them there. If you do care, then I suggest finding a nursing home that cares because the nurses there do not.
