Thank you very much to Jackie, Christian, Fan and staff for all the wonderful nursing care we received for my brother Glen Dalton - RIP. Especial thanks to Kristy and Usher for daily ongoing care and attention, along with many other staff members. Thank you for your patience with Glen's speech problems and emotional ups and downs as he coped with motor neurone disease. The facilities leave a lot to be desired and I believe management should look at making some improvements. But the staff went above and beyond to seek out the best resources for Glen to better manage his specific movement problems. I appreciate how everyone made an effort to learn more about Glen's specific needs and I believe this will be implemented for other needy residents in the future. All your cares were appreciated, Sandra Miles
My Dad has been at Sylvan Woods since March 2016. He has been really well looked after during all that time. The staff treat him, and all the other residents, with care and compassion and try to keep them gainfully occupied and mentally stimulated. As visitors, we were always welcomed. Covid 19 meant life could not go on the same, and while it was certainly distressing for the families to be separated from their loved ones, we can only praise the staff for keeping the residents safe and infection free. I know my husband and I appreciated being able to speak to Dad via Zoom and we thank the Lifestyle team for organising that.
Staff are supportive and caring. The home supports a very homely environment with excellent fresh cooked interesting meals. Activities are suitable for the population age group including lots of light entertainment and regular special events. WE have always been made welcome at Sylvan Woods
Rose's mum (my mother in law) has been in Sylvan Woods for over a year and a half. The level of care and compassion shown by each staff member is first class. We are constantly updated about her condition and when we are anxious about something, they put us at ease. Mum is always kept clean, comfortable and pain free. The home is very clean, the food is of a good variety and there is plenty of entertainment for the residents. The managers/supervisors are fantastic and always focus on quality service to meet the needs of the residents. We could not have chosen a better place. When we visit mum, we are constantly greeted by friendly, smiling faces. Their protocols during Covid have kept the place as a safe environment for all.
I don't know about that disgusting review by 'Al Bon' (real names give more credibility) but my father was a resident there and my experience was fantastic. After my negative experience at Redland's Hospital with their social worker I was preparing for the worst when we arrived at Sylvan Woods. How wrong could I have been. They were kind, extremely caring, the staff had a laugh with you, I was welcome any hour and always offered food and drink when I was there to watch the footy with Dad. Management stayed after hours to accommodate my work hours to do the business side of things. When dad became palliative I couldn't ask for a better group of people to care for him. The Senior team were on call 24 hours to communicate with me during this time as I struggled with the prospect of losing my dad. Then they helped organise a memorial service there, not just for Dad but Mum too (she passed 3 months prior) and Management organised catering for my loved ones who attended, no charge!! Then out of the blue, I get a card from Management and the team full of kind thoughts and well wishes!! I recommend Sylvan Woods to anyone who will listen. It truly is a home that exudes that homely feel filled with staff that function professionally, really care and work well as a team. Thank you to all the staff at Sylvan Woods for turning such a difficult time into a less painful and caring experience during and even after Dad left.
