Dad's being well cared for, clean and comfortable. The staff lead by the Director of Nursing, Hodo, is of a caring and respectful standard. The Home always looks clean and smells fresh. I can't fault the care Dad is receiving, from the visiting Doctor to nurses, therapists, carers and cleaning and maintenance staff,
My Mum, who suffers from Alzheimers, commenced living at Hamersley following a fall and subsequent broken arm. Given her condition she was unable to look after herself on leaving hospital and never returned home. The change from living at home to an aged care facility was very disorienting and difficult for Mum who has always enjoyed her independence. I am very pleased however, that the staff at Hamersley made the transition as easy as possible for her. They're consistently caring and attentive of my Mum's particular needs and always make a special effort to be comforting, up-beat and friendly.
The staff seem delightful and willing to help, it is made into this place where your loved ones are going to be fine but don't let them sweet talk you ! My grandmother was there for approximately a month , today I arrived to blood run down my Nans mouth from chapped lips and she wasn't responding to me and hadn't been eating or drinking for approximately 5 days ! They did not call a ambulance until requested by me this morning ! My grandmother is currently in hospital extremely Dehydrated having fluids through a drip with sores from being in bed too long in the one place , her kidneys could be extremely damaged ! The staff at the hospital taken her off the pain relief she was on completely as they believe it was causing her to reject food and water because she was too out of it ! On other occasions like the weekend just passed I couldn't find a staff member for approximately 30 minutes while our family members were left Infront of televisions , walking around or patiently waiting with their buzzers going off ! My grandmother won't be returning and a complaint has been made. My grandmother had also had her purse there and I knew of this and asked for her purse as she likes to have her purse and bag with her at hospital I was told it wasn't there or in any safes and once I said I would phone the police it was found straight away. I'm extremely upset with the service and care please look further into where your leaving your loved ones.
My mother just spent a few days at this place, as my father was in hospital. The buildings show a significant amount of recent work, and there is currently building works in progress. The smell mentioned by an earlier reviewer is not in evidence, though all nursing homes do have an unusual smell. The staff were great, my mum's only complaint was being there in the first place. Thank you for looking after my mum.
Ten months have passed since my last review, hopefully with the royal commission announced, this place will get it together and clean it up. Since the last review 3 months ago, a lot has changed obviously. The place smells like urine the minute you walk through the front door. The maintenance is lacking as there is paint falling off the walls, even the little bridge you cross to access the property has bird poo all over it (months old) . I have to say the staff are very nice and friendly although they seem to vanish after dinner time and the elderly are left to their own devices. I honestly didn't think this type of place would exist in Perth. Shame on the owners of this facility!!!
