Kilmore Hospital is one of the best hospitals I have ever been to. It was my first time going there and I had such a lovely experience. I went in to the urgent care unit as I had a insect bite and had very bad swelling on my arm. They had to call in a doctor as there wasn't one there at the moment but that was understandable as they were not busy as I was the only one in emergency. The doctor came in 30 minutes which was fine as I only had slight pain. Doctor Lawson and Nurse Emily were very friendly and professional. Both admin ladies were lovely too. I also noticed that the hospital was very clean and well presented. Such a lovely hospital, we are so lucky that we have a hospital close by that isn't busy. If I went to Epping I'm sure I would have been waiting for hours just to be seen as my situation wasn't urgent. Thank you staff at Kilmore Hospital ❤
Came in for a small procedure under anesthesia, they injected me a total of 5 times due to it being incorrectly placed. Mind you I told them which side of my arms has more prevalent veins but she completely ignored me and didn't care to look so continued to inject the same arm (elbow crease & hand vains) The nurse that did this surgery for me told me she would be right there when I woke up but she was no where to be found. Upon going into surgery I was trying to tell them that the needle in my hand for the anesthesia was hurting alot and I then heard the lady tell the trainee who did the 4th injection that the whole time it had been in the wrong place (deep in my muscle). This injection site remained sore for months after. I started panicking and highly regretting my decision to have it done at this hospital but it was too late because I passed out soon after. They did try to calm me down which was nice but after the procedure I woke up and a nurse went to cut my hospital tag off my ankle and completely cut a chunk of my skin with a pair of scissors. Really don't know what goes on at this hospital but sometimes it feels like they just pick anyone off the street to hire. I've definitely had some good experiences where the workers have been very kind and caring but most of the time they make you feel like you don't belong there and should just go home unless your dying. Makes me wonder what else goes on in this place that no one knows about.
For a small country hospital I’m impressed with the level of care they can offer. I had one doctor at UCC that was incredibly rude and tried to send me home with no assistance. Waited twenty minutes for the next doctor to start and was treated immediately with no issues. Every other doctor has been efficient and I’ve got no complaints about all the other doctors. I use multiple services from KDH and can’t fault their services considering the size of the hospital and the fact it’s a country hospital with limited resources.
One particular ED nurse was completely rude and criticized one of my loved ones when I tried to admit them for a extreme mental health situation ( right infront of them may I add) Second time I went there was for my grandmother in a coma as it was her time to pass of old age and the same nurse got her name wrong and took us to the wrong room making us think our grandmother was healthy when she wasn’t and was completely unempathetic and said things like ‘ what do you want’ and when I told her to change her attitude and be more empathetic, she got defensive and started talking back to me like she was five years old. Would rather put my hand in a meat grinder than come back here.
My review is only based on my personal experience. I had endoscopy procedures done in the hospital today. The whole experience is positive. I waited 2 hours in waiting room. Doctors and nursing team are friendly and respectful. I highly appreciate their professionalism. I have done the same procedures at private hospitals in the past and I would say there is absolutely no difference. I will choose this hospital again next time. By the way there are plenty of free parking.
