My Dad always said he would not go to an aged care facility and he has always had a strong will, even sometimes to the point of being obstinate. He had even shared his strategies with family of how he would avoid such a situation. So after his ACAT assessment he was approved for level 3 homecare which was hopefully how we thought we were going to manage his condition (Alzheimer’s) and hopefully comply/support his wishes. However, due to several issues and his very quickly declining condition immediate action was needed to get him into an aged facility. I felt ashamed that I did not have to time to shop around and find the best possible facility for him as I jumped at the first offer. Well nine days later after being admitted to Bass Hill Aged Care, can I say that I believe there was divine invention – all my prayers along with buckets of tears have been answered. My Dad is happy! He looks at least three (3) years younger. He is not a social person and he loves to read and enjoys his own privacy; he loves his room and he especially appreciates the caring and competent staff. His only complaint is that “they try to feed me too much”, but he does love the quality of the food and enjoys the menu. So number one, my Dad is happy! I am exceptionally happy because my Dad is happy and I am incredibly impressed with the quality of care he is receiving; I not only witness the exceptional care but they treat him so respectfully, preserving his dignity at all times, which Dad reiterates to me every time I see him. Staff, also welcome and treat me especially well. Number two, over the years I have visited many friends and family in aged care, I am also a registered health practitioner, academic and researcher who over the years have treated/worked in several health care facilities; I need to acknowledge and congratulate the Bass Hill Aged Care facility on the cleanliness of their premises, the professional care and services they provide and the governance in which the facility is managed. Thank you for the standard of care that you are providing my Dad, you cannot image the immeasurable peace of mind you give me!

The transition of a loved one in to aged care, is quite an emotional time, especially in unique circumstances, as we find ourselves in 2020. The priority for our Dad was to find a home that provided the support and resources to ensure comfort, care and dignity for him. After visiting a number of homes, we entered the front doors at Bass Hill Aged Care and we immediately felt welcome and knew this was the place we had been looking for. The home is well established, with the most caring staff who take the time to know each resident individually. The staff are always keeping us informed of Dads progress, either via phone or each time we visit. They genuinely care for each resident. The home is always clean and well-staffed. The residents are provided with beautiful home cooked style meals. Thank you to the management and staff for the wonderful job you do in caring for the residents and keeping them safe and comforted.

After searching numerous aged care facilities in the Western Sydney area, I finally came across Bass Hill Aged Care. My first impressions were excellent & have been confirmed over the past trying 12 months. My loved one is not your average aged care resident. He has challenging behaviours & therefore special needs. The management & staff are caring & compassionate, always focused on improving his quality of life. There are plenty of aged care homes that focus on a new shiny facility & select residents using financial & manageability criteria. Bass Hill is not one of those. Their focus is on the residents quality of life & providing equity of access to their facility. Many thanks to the management & staff.
