More like a 5 star Hotel rather than an Aged Care facility trust me! I was blown away when initially inspecting Racecourse Grange with my parents as an ‘independent person’ on my parents request also-an extra set of ears and eyes as they would find it a bit overwhelming and I work in a similar welfare/care industry as my job. Therefore my parents thought I would be more objective and professional possibly with my opinion, feeling and comments!? Lol. Well I must say from the minute we all entered and actually got past the establishments electronic COVID-19 visitor sign in, admittedly that was somewhat painful-especially to my elderly parents who were not as savvy on an iPad and signing your name electronically-keeping in mind my Mother has had a mini stroke previously and although semi recovered from it, she has been left with semi paralysis in her right hand & can not write normally anymore anyway let alone sign her name electronically on an iPad! The Administrative staff didn’t know what to do or say surprisingly!? Obviously it was easier for me to sign my Mum’s name how I remembered it to be, made a comment about being Inclusive and moved on to eventually printing out a visitor label for my Mum, before I started to assist my Father who was struggling on the other iPad, before doing my own sign in. Damn you COVID-19!) Anyway moving on...OMG this place inside was just beautiful. Very new, modern, light and airy, not to mention extremely plush but in such a homely way. We walked past a Cafe/coffee shop, a private dining room for say private family celebrations like birthdays etc, a private little hairdressers where you could book a haircut or wash/style etc, , there was a resident laundry to use -if you wanted! (Otherwise all residents clothes got washed in a bigger laundry onsite by staff), Oh my goodness, I thought straight away, I could live here, actually I’d love to live here! It was gorgeous and a real credit to the establishment’s Management & owners National Unity, they own the Aged care facility across the road as well, Peninsula Grange, I’m unsure what that facility is like, I did not tour their High Care Facility &/or Nursing Home only this one today at at Racecourse Grange, it’s the newest of their facilities in Mornington and I can vouch terrific. I toured ‘Shearwater’ house, one of four houses that house 17 elderly residents in them each. Although it doesn’t matter which house you’re in, they are all the same and mirror each other. Spacious and spectacular, very impressive, come and have a look for your self. We were looking for a spot of respite for my Mum possibly for a few weeks, whilst my Father was in hospital having major surgery. We will definitely go ahead... Mum was wrapped with the place, so was Dad! 👍❤️
Toured prior to lockdown, loved it. Staff are professional, friendly and caring. Hopefully mum will be happy and grow to love her new surroundings.
Our family member was in Racecourse Grange for a few weeks in Feb/March 2020. The care provided to Dad was outstanding. The support to our family was amazing. Beautiful staff, beautiful facility, highly recommended.
Guys it's an aged care home... Not a place where they race old people. Kinda disappointed in that but what can you do.
Beautiful place, staff and Management have great respect for the residents.
